Ellison 6 is a 35 bed unit with the clinical specialty being orthopaedics and urology. The population of patients includes total joint replacements, trauma, and orthopaedic oncology. The orthopaedic department at MGH has one of the only specified orthopaedic oncology programs on the East Coast. The urology population is varied in acuity from stone removal to prostatectomy. The patient care delivery model is a patient-focused model, supported by primary nursing. Patient-focused care is high quality, comprehensive, accessible, supportive and personalized care.
