Responsibilities Would you like to help kids born with severe heart defects have better lives while also doing exciting science?   The Nigam Lab ( Nigam Lab (seattlechildrens.org)) at the Center for Developmental Biology and Regenerative Medicine, Seattle Children’s Research Institute and the Department of immunology, University of Washington invites applications for a Research Scientist II position.  Work in the Nigam lab uses basic science and translational approaches to improve the care of children born with severe cardiac defects. The primary focus of the lab seeks to elucidate and find novel treatments for the systemic inflammation that occurs after exposure to cardiopulmonary bypass, which is required for the majority of cardiac surgeries. This project, which has been recently awarded a R01, examines how biomechanical stimuli activate inflammatory responses. Responsibilities The Preclinical & Translational, Coler Lab, is looking for talented and dedicated technicians to work with animal models and perform a wide array of microbiological and immunological assays to develop vaccines against diseases caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and nontuberculous mycobacteria. The successful candidate will be committed to SCRI’s mission of developing vaccines for infectious diseases, be a strong team player capable of working with moderate supervision and committed to learning new skills. A strong background in microbiology is preferred. Department Overview The Thoracic Nurse Navigator will work collaboratively with Knight Cancer teams to include Physician, surgeons, residents, fellows, and RN coordinators in the care of this complex population throughout the continuum of care and treatment.
