Working under the general direction of a collaborating physician, the advanced practice clinician (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) provides direct care to patients in a high volume clinical service. S/he develops, implements, and evaluates a program of specialized health care for a select patient population with cardiac conditions. S/he will be intimately involved in direct care and education of patients, and should have experience working with arrhythmias and cardiac devices, such as implantable cardiac defibrillators, implantable loop recorders, and pacemakers. S/he promotes a collaborative relationship among various health care professionals toward continuity of patient care and efficient use of resources. S/he serves as a role model for professional medical practice in the management of patients with cardiovascular disease.
