Department Overview

The Nurse Manager provides leadership to Richmond Clinic, Richmond Walk-in, and Benson School Based Health Center.  This position plans for and develops the clinical programs of the nursing unit, assuring quality care and continuity for patients and families.  He/she is responsible for guiding/overseeing day-to-day clinical nursing and operations, and is responsible for all human resources functions of the nursing unit including compliance and staff development.  The Nurse Manager works under the guidance of the FMR Executive Director and Board of Directors and reports to the FMR Practice Manager.  The Nurse Manager is responsible for facilitating the operations of the nurse team and staffing plan and functioning within the FMR leadership team, which will include consistent leadership by example in support of all aspects of the mission of OHSU and FMR, including teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service.  The Nurse Manager provides oversight of flow of patients, coordinating efforts of clinical staff, and ensuring efficient use of resources. The Nurse Manager will support the Back Office Supervisor in workflow development and alignment of clinical goals and practices. The Nurse Manager supervises all nursing staff, while supporting diversity, creativity and an environment characterized by a strong ethic of trust, respect, and cooperation.  This position requires the ability to work as a collaborative team member on the management team, including building a professional partnership with the other work group supervisors and managers, Medical Director, and other departments such as billing.

Required Qualifications

  • BSN plus 3 years supervisory experience, or equivalent education and experience.  RN licensure in the state of OR, plus BLS certification.
    Specifically, must have experience in ambulatory nursing, employee/RN supervision, and the establishment of strategic quality metric plans.
  • Three or more years experience working with patients.  Four or more years experience in a managerial/supervisory role.  Demonstrated organization skills.  Demonstrated problem solving skills.  Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.  Demonstrated leadership and planning skills. Demonstrated experience at an FQHC.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills needed, work on varied projects while managing day to day operations within the division.  Work positively and constructively with a diverse group of faculty and staff. Demonstrated skills using data to guide decisions and to achieve clinic goals.  Must be extremely organized and detail oriented juggling a wide variety of responsibilities managing priorities and deadlines. Advanced computer skills necessary included:  the suite of Microsoft office programs, and Epic experience preferred.
  • Oregon RN license and CPR

  • Masters Degree
