The Mother Baby Unit provides postpartum, antepartum, transgender and gynecological care to low and at risk populations. They provide well newborn care as part of rooming in service and in a well newborn nursery. Care is provided and assignments made based on acuity and strives to follow the Guidelines for Professional Nurse Staffing for Perinatal Units published by Association for Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (2010).

The qualifications for this position are the minimum eligibility requirements for an interview.  The level of required experience and expertise for each posted position is influenced by the current knowledge and skill of nurses within the department.

• External Applicants: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) required
• One year of postpartum or labor and delivery experience required or New Graduate who had their senior capstone experience in postpartum or labor and delivery required 
• Applicants without postpartum and/or labor and delivery capstone experience, may be considered for the position per management discretion

• Ability to lift, bend, stoop, reach, carry, push, pull and walk throughout the work period
• Able to lift 35 lbs. independently
• Complies with the safe patient mobilization policy when lifting or positioning dependent patients, including using mechanical lifts and coordinating the assistance of other personnel
• The work environment carries risk of exposure to human tissue/fluids and radiation
• Must be able to deal with competing needs and priorities of internal and external customers, including making correct judgments regarding ensuring safe conditions for patients, families, and other personnel
• Use of all hospital approved clinical equipment
• Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information and tools
• Current unencumbered Oregon RN license
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or the Military Training Network branch of AHA (upload documentation with online application)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification (NRP)
• Annual/Biennial Department specific education requirements include:
• Annual pediatric/maternal competencies
• Biennial competencies for newborn resuscitation
