
Directs clinical nursing operations for West Virginia University Hospitals within the assigned Ambulatory clinical departments and is the primary nurse to direct clinical nursing operations for University Health Associates. Directly supervises the Coordinator Preceptor for Ambulatory Clinical Resource Pool and Ambulatory Social Services, and is accountable and responsible for the leadership of these departments. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN).
2. Current license to practice Registered Professional Nursing in West Virginia.
3. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Five (5) years of nursing experience with at least two (2) years in a management or administrative position.

1. Serves as a clinical liaison to the WVUH and UHA, facilitating collaboration and integration of Ambulatory clinical services.
2. Oversees the regulatory compliance for all Ambulatory Departments specifically regarding The Joint Commission and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) standards.
3. Provides direction and supervision to Ambulatory Services Managers, and assists them as needed, with process improvement, clinical efficiencies, and conflict resolution.
4. Works proactively with medical center directors, hospital directors and medical staff to identify areas in need of evaluation or modification in order to protect, maintain or enhance clinical practice within all of Ambulatory Services.
5. Manages the development, review, and revision of all clinical Ambulatory Services policies, procedures and standards for both WVUH and UHA Ambulatory Policy and Procedure Manuals.
6. Develops departmental budgets for personnel, material and services. Operates departments in accordance with approved budget and analyzes trends to develop long range plans for budget needs.
7. Participates in and contributes to quality improvement and safety activities. Works in coordination with the Ambulatory Quality Control Specialist and Ambulatory Safety Specialist to ensure proper quality control and safety measures are in place for all Ambulatory Departments.
8. Creates, designs and implements new Ambulatory initiatives from the clinical perspective.
9. Directs and supervises the Ambulatory Medical Social Workers.
10. Direct and supervise the Coordinator Preceptor that leads the Ambulatory Clinical Resource Pool.
11. Knowledgeable about clinical activities and practices in clinics and supports quality assurance and benchmarking.
12. Directs the operations for the Patient Call Manager inpatient discharge follow-up phone call program.
13. Coordinates research activities within Ambulatory Services.
14. Initiates and coordinates education programs for various audiences including the community, care providers, pre-hospital personnel, and the media.
15. Chairs and participates in committees and completes projects as assigned.
16. Creates an atmosphere conducive to participative management that fosters autonomous practice and decision making within a climate of team building and group interaction.
17. Participates in outreach activities in the community, in order to educate and/or promote good relationships.
18. Responsible for the coordination, organization and delegation of the operational aspects of assigned departments to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services.
19. Facilitates the professional development of staff and ensures competence in clinical practice for all clinical support within Ambulatory Services.
20. Selects, hires, and manages qualified individuals for all areas of supervision and evaluates the effectiveness of employees on an ongoing basis.
21. Performs on-going performance reviews that provide objective, constructive feedback regarding strengths and opportunities for improvement, including developmental plans for each employee.
22. Coaches and counsels to correct identified performance deficiencies, developing plans which establish goals, provides follow-up and follows established hospital policies.
23. Assists the Ambulatory Operations team with the clinical design of new and remodeled clinic locations.
