Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Support Resource Nurse supports high quality, patient-centered care by offering feedback, guidance and mentoring to new graduate nurses within Wesley Medical Center. The CSR Nurse is responsible for overseeing StaRN’s in multiple units: 3 ICU’s (SICU, CCU, and MICU) as well as all Acute-Care settings. The Resource Nurse also provides guidance and education on the hospital’s standard of nursing practice, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with nursing care and practice as defined by Wesley Medical Center and the Kansas Nurse Practice Act. The Resource Nurse will support the organization’s vision and mission. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrates positive outcomes in patient care.

·Performs rounds on each nursing unit with StaRN nurses, continuously observing, assessing the quality of patient care, and identifying nursing educational needs.

·Escalating concerns about nursing skills, patient care, policies, processes and equipment as appropriate with leadership.

·Provides feedback and mentoring on patient assessments and care planning, and helps with performing or troubleshooting specific skills.

·Within the scope of the Resource Nurse role, ensures nurses have a clear understanding of how to integrate patient experience into nursing practice.

·Maintaining iMobile phone for easy contact by StaRN nurses within scope of support.

·Assists rapid nurses as needed and provides support during rapid responses, codes as necessary.

·Flexible scheduling with CSR Team

·No holiday scheduling or required weekends

Required Registration, Licensure or Certification

·Current Licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Current Multi-State Licensure as a Registered Nurse

·Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course through AHA or ARC

·Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) verification within allotted time frame, as specified in policy

Required Education or Experience

·Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing

·3 years of critical care experience, intensive care multi-system experience or emergency department experience

·Successful completion of Dysrhythmia Exam within allotted time frame, as specified in policy

·Experience in acute care, med-surg, telemetry
