Providence is calling a Supervisor Nursing - House Supervisor (Per diem/Night Shift) at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA.

We are seeking a Supervisor Nursing - House Supervisor who will direct and supervise nursing service functions and activities as well as facilitates placement of patients 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Assist in the assumption of administrative responsibilities for the medical center as delegated through the administrative structure.
In this position you will:
Administer and supervise nursing daily operations and coordinates its activities. Promotes cooperation of the staff to achieve department objectives and maintain good department relations.
Oversee the delivery of comprehensive nursing care, acts as a clinical resource and verifies that appropriate measures are instituted for each patient on assigned shift by making rounds to each patient care area during designated shift.
Investigate complaints of patients, nursing staff, and medical staff and takes appropriate action; forwards to appropriate manager for follow up.
Oversee staffing of the nursing units during the weekend, evening and night hours and makes adjustments as necessary. On day shift week days, assists managers with oversight of staffing and unit activities. Assures that unit budgeted hours are adhered to within an acceptable range of variation.
Facilitate and maintain communication between nursing units and ancillary departments for the purpose of problem solving utilizing appropriate lines of communication.
Promote a safe environment that allows for the delivery of high quality patient care.
Protect patient and employee confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications.
Direct maintenance of departmental facilities, equipment, supplies and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff.
Select, train/orient and assign department float staff. Develop standards of performance, evaluates performance, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Maintains effective communication with assigned float staff through staff meetings and other means of communication.
Ensure that annual and on-going performance appraisals for employees are done on a timely basis.
Identify needs and provides for training for staff. Plans independently and in conjunction with others, as well as participates in the clinical and leadership development of staff.
Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.
Demonstrate pro-active leadership and conflict management skills.
Attend meetings as required, and participates on committees as directed.
Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, Improving Organization Performance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

MOAB I/II within 180 days of hire
Current California Licensed Registered Nurse
BLS for Healthcare Providers sponsored by the American Heart Association. NOTE: If employee/applicant has certification by the American Red Cross-CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, this will be accepted until card expiration
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
3 years Acute care experience
