Job Description


  • Position Summary
    • Responsible for assessing health and learning needs of individuals with diabetes. Counsels patients and their families as appropriate based on assessment findings. Participates in program management and development.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
    • License/Certifications: Current Maine RN license. Willingness to achieve Diabetes Educator Certification.
    • Experience: Minimum of three years of acute care nursing preferred.  Diabetes experience required.
    • Completion of ADEF new instructor program as feasible.
    • Meets requirements set by the Diabetes Control Project for primary or back-up instructor.
    • Assists in the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and/or program development.
    • Develops and maintains appropriate staffing and scheduling patterns to meet the needs of the patients.
    • Demonstrates excellent documentation skills
    • Facilitates and participates in the development of a Performance Improvement plan
