About Us

Hospital for Special Care (HFSC) is the fourth largest, free-standing long-term acute care hospital in the U.S. and one of only two in the nation serving both adults and children. Located in New Britain and Hartford, we operate on a not-for-profit basis. We are recognized for advanced care and rehabilitation in pulmonary careacquired brain injurymedically-complex pediatricsneuromuscular disordersspinal cord injurycomprehensive heart failure and comprehensive inpatient and outpatient treatment for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder.

Community Health Needs Assessment

A Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) is conducted periodically to evaluate the health needs of individuals living in the hospital service area of the state of Connecticut. The CHNA helps guide HFSC in developing and implementing strategies to improve the health status of our community.
