Abrazo Central Campus is an acute care and teaching hospital, offering a wide range of healthcare services from emergency care, neurosciences, orthopedic, cardiac care, surgical oncology, a breast health center and more.

Neurosciences is a significant focus for the Central Campus and we continue investing in our capabilities for neurosurgery and stroke treatment. Our talented staff and designation as the state’s first thrombectomy-capable stroke center contribute to our growing reputation as a destination for neuro care.

Abrazo Central Campus is certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, reflecting the hospital’s investment in neuroscience talent and capabilities. Comprehensive Stroke Centers can treat patients suffering hemorrhagic or large ischemic strokes with follow up care in an intensive care unit. Centers can also treat patients with suspected aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, those requiring specialized testing or therapies such as endovascular surgery, and those requiring multispecialty management. The certification affirms that Abrazo Central addresses the full spectrum of cerebrovascular diseases – diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and education – and establishes clear metrics to evaluate outcomes. It is based on standards created by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association, and granted by DNV GL Healthcare, a certification body operating in more than 100 countries.

Abrazo Central also is home to the Abrazo Family Medicine Residency Program, which has trained primary care physicians for more than 40 years.
