Enloe Medical Center is a 298-bed nonprofit hospital with the mission of improving the quality of your life through patient-centered care. It is one of two Level II trauma centers north of Sacramento, houses the region’s only Level II neonatal intensive care unit and operates the FlightCare air ambulance service. Enloe’s comprehensive medical services include cardiac surgery and heart care, neurosurgery, orthopedics, total joint replacement, cancer care, maternity care, women's services and bariatrics.
Enloe caregivers are focused on engaging each other to achieve higher quality of care, reaching out to patients and families to create meaningful programs and building bridges with the community to support health and well-being.
Enloe is one of the few California hospitals still locally governed. The hospital’s community-based, volunteer Board of Trustees protects this local status and assures that dollars earned are reinvested to improve the health of the community.

A passion for medicine and quality care led a young physician to migrate West, where in 1913, Dr. Newton Thomas Enloe opened the original Enloe Hospital. The hospital was located on Flume Street in Chico (see photo at right). In 1937, the hospital opened in its existing location on the Esplanade. Dr. Enloe (see photo below, circa 1918) spent a lifetime assuring North Valley residents received quality medical care.
Through the excellence of our employees and medical staff, Enloe Medical Center has grown to become the region's most comprehensive medical center, and one of the few hospital organizations of its size in California still locally governed.
We welcome you to Enloe -- a place where employees, volunteers and physicians collaborate to improve the quality of your life through-patient centered care.
