Wenatchee Valley Medical Center

About Wenatchee Valley Medical Center

Whether it's a quick trip to the clinic or a visit to the hospital, Wenatchee Valley Medical Center (WVMC) has Pacific Northwesterners covered. Formed in 1940, the physician-owned rural health care system administers medical aid to residents in north central Washington State. The medical center boasts eight community clinics and a 20-bed acute care hospital. Its campus includes the Wenatchee Valley Clinic, the Wenatchee Valley Hospital and Surgery Center, and a regional radiation treatment oncology center. MVMC counts some 170 physicians among its operations who provide care in most major medical specialties, including behavioral health, cardiology, and OB-GYN.

Strategy

While WVMC's hospital does not include an intensive care unit, the organization stays busy by performing up to 150 surgical procedures each week across its nearly 10 operating rooms. The medical center boasts that some 85% of its surgery patients go home the same day. One of its eight clinics, WVMC's Moses Lake Clinic serves as a training campus for the WRITE Program, a clinical medical education program. Developed by the University of Washington School of Medicine, the program works to provide rural primary care physicians to residents of Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho.
